Happy Reading over the Summer
What a lovely end to our reading year. Maura McElhone was an absolute pleasure to have at our last meeting and even though it was lashing rain all day, we still had a very good turn out…..and not a welly in sight!!
We will resume on 2nd Sept at the usual time , 5pm in the library. Over the Summer, I will have copies of Graham Norton’s Holding for collection here.
Christine Dwyer Hickey will join us on 8th Oct as part of the Red Line Book Festival. There will be copies of The Narrow Land here for you all on the 2nd Sept.

Falling For a Farmer by Maura McElhone * Author visit
Next meeting will be held in the Coachhouse at 5.30pm on Tuesday 4th June. It is the last meeting until September and it will be a special one as we are hosting the author of Falling for a Farmer, Maura McElhone.

One City, One Book 2019 is Edna O’Brien’s The Country Girls Trilogy
As a nod to the One City one book, we are going to read the first in the trilogy this month – The Country girls. The book club are going to the dramatization of the book in The Abbey on 27th March at 2pm and will meet for a short meeting on 2nd April at 5pm. There are lots of very interesting events throughout Dublin in April that the club could follow up on.
The Murder of Harriet Monkton by Elizabeth Haynes
This whodunit is based on the true story of Harriet Monkton who was found murdered in Bromley, Kent in 1843. It is a novel that exposes the hypocrisy and scandal of the time. A novel full of suspicion and suggestion. Meeting is on Tuesday 5th march at 5pm in the library
How to be human: the manual by Ruby Wax
This book fits nicely with First Fortnight , the European Mental health art and culture Festival in January. Ruby wax, comedian, writer, poster girl for Mental Health in the UK gives us an insight on how to train our minds. Meeting is at 5pm on Tuesday 5th February. All welcome.
The Christmas secret by Karen Swan
Karen Swan has written a few Christmas books before this one. This could be just the book to take you gently through the holidays especially after some of the serious topics we covered in recent book choices.
